Caretaker

Nelson College for Girls is seeking a proactive and practical person to fulfil the role of Caretaker / Kaitiaki, to ensure that our buildings, other fixtures, fittings, and property are maintained to the highest level.

We are looking for a person who takes pride in their mahi and can maintain a professional level of communication /korero along with a friendly demeanour, good humour, and can relate well to all ages within the school community including external contractors.

You will need to have a good level of fitness, ability to work autonomously, excellent time management awareness and lots of initiative. You will need to be very practical, solution focussed and computer literate as you will be using several on-line property systems and operating systems using cellular apps.

You will be an integral part of the Nelson College for Girls team and active in ensuring the efficient operation of our Kura facilities, undertaking general caretaking and relevant maintenance work as required, completing health and safety checks, organising, and undertaking small projects, liaising with trades people and staff. You will also be responsible for day-to-day operations of the school heating system (boiler) and the swimming pool.

This is a permanent full-time role, 40 hours per week, 7:30am - 4:00pm including school holidays. Remuneration will be based on the skills and experience you bring to this role. We may consider making this a position a job share, if this was of interest, please indicate this in your cover letter.
