Caretaker | Kaitiaki

Te Kura Tamawāhine o Whakatū | Nelson College for Girls is on the hunt for a superstar Caretaker to ensure the maintenance of our buildings, fixtures and fittings are consistently maintained to the highest level.  We are looking for someone that understands the importance of this role and the integral part it plays to the smooth operation of our Kura. This role is part of a small property team, the Operations Manager, Caretaker and Groundsperson. The Caretaking role concentrates on the maintenance side of keeping our Kura operating, and our Groundsperson takes great care of our gardens, grounds, and lawns.

We are looking for a Caretaker | Kaitiaki superstar that can be:

  • A practical problem-solver with a can-do attitude

  • A friendly face who can connect with our students, staff, and community

  • A self-starter with ideally a trades background and a knack for getting things done

  • A fitness enthusiast who can keep up with our busy and hilly school environment!

  • A master of time management and a whiz at juggling tasks

  • A team player who will pitch in when and where required

As our Caretaker | Kaitiaki superstar you will be responsible for:

  • Keeping our buildings, fixtures and fittings in top shape

  • Completing maintenance jobs with speed and efficiency

  • Ensuring our school is safe and healthy for everyone

  • Managing small projects and collaborating with our team

  • Keeping our boiler and swimming pool running smoothly

As our Caretaker superstar we can offer you a:

  • Permanent full-time role – 37.5 hours Monday – Friday - 7.30am - 4.30pm

  • Competitive pay of $30.00 per hour which is above the School Caretakers and Cleaners Collective agreement.
